About enough
Sometimes I get weighed down by unhelpful thoughts. They can be triggered by something someone else has said or done, or a thought I've initiated. They can lead to stress, anxiety and insomnia. They can restrict my creativity and hold me back from living my life to the full.
But now I've discovered a useful way of turning things around. To begin with I take these unhelpful thoughts and comments and write them down. This helps me to really, really see them. I represent them on tickets (pieces of paper) as 'bags' under my eyes - or things that worry me. Then, when I can see them really clearly I respond to them. I say to myself ENOUGH of the unhelpful talk. I ask myself: how do I want to be here? What do I want my brain to think? In my responses I try not to push the triggering comments and thoughts away, rather I offer myself alternate ways of thinking and being.
