About enough
Sometimes I get weighed down by unhelpful thoughts. They can lead to stress, anxiety and insomnia; they restrict my creativity and hold me back from living my life to the full. They can be triggered by something someone else has said or done, or a thought I've initiated.
But now I've discovered a useful way of turning things around (thanks George). To begin with I take these unhelpful thoughts and comments and write them down. This helps me to really, really see them. I represent them on tickets (pieces of paper) as 'bags' under my eyes - or things that worry me. Then, when I can see them really clearly I respond to them. I say to myself ENOUGH of the unhelpful talk. I ask myself: how do I want to be here? What do I want my brain to think? In my responses I try not to push the triggering comments and thoughts away, rather I offer myself alternate ways of thinking and being.
